KOILAMATI, Jan 03: The 11th Winter Dance Competition was held at Tokolangso, located in the Karbi Anglong-Golaghat border area on Monday. The event was jointly organised by the Klimthurmi Cultural Society (KCS) and Karbi Artist Forum Nilip Province. The entire event was held under the supervision of Klimthurmi Cultural Society president Biren Hanse and secretary Robinson Terang.
KAAC EM, i/c Medical, Arts and Culture departments Surjya Rongphar was present as the chief guest and inaugurated the event.
During the day, locals also submitted a memorandum to the EM urging the KAAC to provide basic facilities including proper roads, drinking water, and land pattas to the inhabitants of the border areas. They also urged for the setting up of a medical sub-centre in the locality.
Addressing the gathering, the EM said that in acknowledgment of the efforts of the people of Tokolangso, a sub-centre will be set up very soon. He also said that the KAAC will provide annual financial support to Klimthurmi Cultural Society, to help them conduct the annual dance event with more ease. Nilip MAC Pobitra Rongpi who was also present at the event talked about the need for more development in the area and the role the public needs to play in the quest for development.
Participants from different places inside Karbi Anglong, Jorhat and Golaghat districts took part in the competition. Among the judges for the competition were Bilison Terang, Chatra Teron and Sujit Timung.
In the solo-dance competition, Yuvi Bora of Golaghat, Sonjay Sarkar of Golaghat and Serlika Engtipi won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Meanwhile, in the group-dance competition, Baby Group from Manja, Lirbon Terangpi Group of Tokolangso and Lirdon Terangpi Group of Tokolangso won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
