DIPHU, Apr 22: The first edition of the Inter-School Volleyball Championship hosted by the Karbi Club Volleyball Academy kick started today at Karbi Club. The championship was inaugurated by District Sports Officer Relip Ronghang in presence of KASA general secretary Dr. Pankaj Teron, Karbi Club president Mrinoy Teron, KASA AGS Prodeep Ronghang, football secretary Horen Engti and others.
In the boys’ category 14 teams are participating in the competition, while in the girls’ section 12 teams have joined. In the opening match of the day, Covenant A played against JNV boys. It was a tough competition but JNV came out as the winner.
Later, in the boys’ section, Rongmirdan School defeated Christian English School, Lil Kids defeated St. Mary’s, Covenant A team defeated Rengbonghom, Don Bosco defeated KV School and Govt. Boys’ HSS defeated Mahatma Gandhi Memorial EHS and Binapani High School.
In the girls’ section, Binapani HS defeated Don Bosco, Covenant (Manja) defeated Lil Kid’s, Rengbonghom defeated Covenant (Diphu) and the girls from Diphu Govt. Boys’ HS defeated St. Mary’s High School and Chandrasing High School.
The semi-final and final matches are to be played on Sunday.
