DILLAI, Jan 08: In another success for the security agencies, a total of 3.5 kilogram heroin was recovered from a Bolero pickup vehicle at Dillai checkpoint under the Dillai police station here this morning.
According to the police, the drugs were recovered from a Bolero pickup vehicle with the registration number AS01MC4996 during a search conducted jointly by the Dillai police and CRPF C20 Camp Bokajan at around 10:30 am.
The search was launched immediately on receiving credible information and the vehicle was intercepted at the Dillai checkpoint during which the joint search team found 286 boxews containing the narcotic substances, Karbi Anglong SP Sanjib Kumar Saikia told media.
In this connection, two persons from Barpeta district identified as Golap Khandakar (29), s/o Sahjahan Khandakar, Phulbari, Tarabari, and Sahanur Mir (21), s/o Sahjahan Mir, Kakdua village, Tarabari have been taken into custody, added the KA SP.
The seizure was made under the physical supervision of SP Karbi Anglong and SDPO Bokajan, the police concluded.
