62nd Teachers’ Day celebrated in Diphu

DIPHU, Sep 05: The Department of School Education, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council organised the celebration programme of the 62 Teachers’ Day today at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall, Diphu. The programme started by paying tribute to the second president of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The newly appointed chairmen of Education Block Development Boards under KAAC were felicitated during the occasion. KAAC EM Richard Tokbi said that the chairmen have been appointed to improve the standard of the educational system in the district, especially the rural areas.

The chief guest MLA Bidyasing Engleng spoke at length about the life of Dr. Sarvepalli. He said that being educated is also a struggle to contribute to the society. He also appealed to the board chairmen to work wholeheartedly and in coordination with the KAAC. He also spoke about the Karbi language being accepted as a medium of instruction up to the eight standards.

Sing Teron (Asst. Teacher, Hidipi English School, Bokajan Block) and Biswajyoti Dev (Head Master, 2no. Udali L.P School, Langsomepi Block) of the primary level, Kamsing Hanse (Head Teacher,  Bakaliaghat M.V School, Langsomepi Block) and Hiranya Kr. Borah (Head Teacher, Mohendijua Govt. ME School, Lumbajong Block) of elementary level, and Thanuram Nath, (Head Master, Sunpura Anchalik High School, Langsomepi Block) and  Kalyan Chetia, (principal Bokajan Higher Secondary School, Bokajan Block) were awarded ‘Best Teacher Award for the year 2023.

Meanwhile, several retired teachers and schools scoring A+ results in the Gunotsav-2023 were also felicitated by the Education Department.

KAAC Deputy Speaker Ajit Dey, EM Madhuram Lekthe, EM Ritesh Enghi, KAAC MACs, board chairmen, and several officers from KAAC, Inspector of Schools Birensing Ingti and Asst. IS Katharson Ingti were among the guests.

Students from Diphu Govt. Boys’ HS School joined the event and performed the opening song and national anthem.
