79th Independence Day celebrated in West Karbi Anglong

DONGKAMUKAM, Aug 16: Along with the rest of the nation, 79th Independence Day was celebrated in the District of West Karbi Anglong in a peaceful manner with no untoward incident across the district on Friday.
All the government offices, government institutions, including private schools, co-operative societies and political party offices unfurled the National tricolour in the morning by the heads of the institutions between 7.30 to 8.00 am.
Here in Hamren, the District headquarter DC Sarangapani Sharma himself unfurled the flag at Rongbong Ronghang playground and was soon featured by a march past from Assam police and different school students contingents, followed by beautiful traditional dance from the ethnic tribes.
National parties, both ruling and opposition, also hosted the tricolour at the scheduled time in their respective offices.
For the saffron party Radip Ronghang, President BJP WKADC unfurled at its District head office at Ghilani Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, near Dongkamukam in front of all the District executive members.
Congress, on the other hand, hoisted the tricolour at the Dongkamukam party headquarters of the District by Augustine Enghee President, WKADC where Sing Teron and Ashok Teron, both former EMs, were present.
