KOILAMATI, Apr 04: The All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) held its first youth conference at Chokihola Higher Secondary School on April 3 and 4.
The event began on Monday with the hoisting APHLC flag by APHLC Youth Wing secretary in-charge Central Committee Shersing Bey. In the afternoon, a public meeting was held and was chaired by Shersing Bey. Homage was paid to Karbi warriors and leaders of the past.
Among the party leaders attending the event were APHLC president J I Kathar, Bikrom Hanse, Rajesh Tisso, Sarkiri Rongphar, Semson Teron and hundreds of party supporters from all 26 constituencies.
Bikrom Hanse, while speaking in the occasion said that there is a need for change in the present time. In this period, Karbi society is in big trouble, so people must come forward in support of APHLC for the sake of the tribe’s rights, culture and tradition.
“All national party’s footings should be removed from Karbi Anglong and the local and regional parties must be favoured,” he said. Several cultural dances were performed by different cultural teams.
