CHOKIHOLA, Apr 06: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Minority Board chairman Prakash Sangma today visited Koilamati area which was hit by hailstorm leaving massive destruction affecting several families.
During his visit, the Minority Board chairman told the affected families that the genuine humanitarian crisis faced by them would be acquainted to the KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang and MLA and ALA deputy speaker Dr. Numal Momin to request for immediate financial assistance.
Further, the Minority Board chairman also handed over some monetary funds from the Council as a mark of acknowledgement from the KAAC chief about the damage caused by the hail storm. Funds have also been handed for repairing roof of church as major residents of Koilamati are from Christian faith.
Meanwhile, locals also expressed their deep distress as many have been practically left homeless at the time when the Christian all over the world are observing Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The locals and the crowd present during the gathering appreciated the noble gestures shown towards them from the Council, Minority Board Chairman and his colleague during the crisis.
Bethel Church members, Deopani College Principal Bonson Rongphar and the locality were also present during the visit.
