DIPHU, Apr 07: Karbi cultural apex body Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) president Chandra Sing Kro informed that invitation to country’s President Draupadi Murmu to grace the Golden Jubilee edition of Karbi Youth Festival have been sent today. The KCS president informed that the invitation letter was submitted to the President at Kohora.
Addressing a press conference at its head office at Taralangso today, the KCS president stated that as earlier announced by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, the matter was discussed and the committee decided to hand over the invitation letter during her visit to Kaziranga National Park. President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Assam on Thursday on her three-day visit to Assam during which she inaugurated ‘Gaj Utsav’ at Kaziranga National Park here today. The programme has been organised to mark 30 years of Project Elephant in the state.
The KCS president informed that they met country’s president at Kohora guest house during which she also expressed her delight over the invitation to grace the Karbi Youth Festival which one of the oldest ethnic festival of the country.
The KCS president however asserted that they would also formally approach the President Draupadi Murmu very soon to make sure of the leader’s positive consideration to their humble request. KCS general secretary Bidyasing Rongpi, KCS vice president Humsing Bey, leader Sunil Tokbi, and publicity secretary Hingchong Tisso were present during the press conference.
