BOKAJAN, Apr 12: Early this evening, the Bokajan police recovered huge quantity of drugs during a naka checking at Khakrajan under Borpathar Police Station.
The drugs was apprehended when a truck bearing registration number ML 10 C 5833 coming from Manipur and headed to Meghalaya was stopped by the police at around 3:30 pm. Acting on the secret information received from tis sources, police conducted thorough search on the truck and recovered the drugs.
The truck was carrying 1 kg 800 grams of drugs packed in 140 soap cases. These boxes were hidden in the truck’s cabin. Police said that the market price of the recovered drugs would be around Rs. 10 crores.
One person identified as Rofikul Islam (35), son of Lt. Abdul Barik of Bongaigoan district has been arrested in this connection and was kept in Borpathar police station. The seized substances were kept in the possession of Bokajan SDPO John Das. C20 Bn. CRPF Bokajan, Borpathar OC Jiten Gogoi, Golaghat OC and police staff joined in the checking.
