Village elders to decide the case of two students leaders as per Karbi customary law

BIRSINGKI, Apr 18: A Gorkha students’ leader lands in trouble after he allegedly called names to KSA president Dorsing Terang and the case  would now be decided as per the Karbi customary law.

Nobin Chetry, president of All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU), Amri Chinthong area  and president of the Karbi Students’ Association Dorsing Terang had a heated argument relating to putting up of the statues of Thong Nokbe and Durga Mala at Umlapher.

 The conflict between the two leaders took an ugly turn when offensive words were hurled by the former to the later and the case has now been taken up by Chinthong Rong Asar Amei, Chinthong Youth Development Committee, Karbi Students Association and United Khasi People’s Organisation. The matter would now be decided as per the Karbi customary law following the failure of AAGSU Amri Chinthong Regional Committee president Nobin Chetry to show up at the meeting.

The decision was taken after the Gorkha party members had failed to show up at the meeting convened to decide matter that might affect the peace in the area due to the highly offensive and objectionable remarks made against local KSA leader. The Chinthong Rong Asar Amei, Chinthong Youth Development Committee, Karbi Students Association and United Khasi People’s Organisation leaders comprising of Sibson Senar, Kamsing Rongphar, Bor im Hanse, Khorsing Rongpi, Prasanta Engti, UKPO Organisation Karbi Anglong Central Committee president Pynshngainlang Rattane and secretary Paschal Sten told media that the matter has been escalated to higher level and would be decided by Habe Pinpos. Meanwhile, social organisations has demanded immediate sacking of SGB ChandroKarkha and Nabin Chetry for their highly objectionable remarks while speaking with the local KSA president Dorsing Terang which has gone viral and have been severely condemned at the social media platform.
