KAAC distributes Tablet PCs to schools across KA & WKA

DIPHU, Apr 18: The Department of Education under KAAC today organised a ceremonial distribution programme of Tablet PCs to the head of all Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. The event was held at Sarsing Teron Langkung Habe Memorial Town Hall in Matipung, Diphu.

The event was graced as the chief guest by KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, while MP Horensing Bey attended as special guest of honour, and KAAC EM i/c of Education Richard Tokbi was the guest of honour. All EMs, MACs, KAAC secretaries and KAAC board chairmen and other officers were present.

A total of 2217 nos. of Tablet PCs were distributed today. Of these total numbers, 1427 were for Karbi Anglong, while the remaining 790 PCs were for West Karbi Anglong. Among the beneficiaries were 1736 primary schools, 260 upper primary schools and 221 secondary and higher secondary schools.

As per the norms, schools having below 195 schools received 1 PC, schools having 195 – 499 students were given 2 PCs, 500 – 999 students received 3 PCs, those having 1000 – 1499 students got 4 PCs, while schools having 1500 and above students got 5 PCs each.

Speaking in the programme EM Richard Tokbi mentioned the significance of the scheme as it will augment the E-learning platform along with systematic management of the school UDISE plan for real-time monitoring of students’ attendance, child tracking and participation in school activities.

CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang had also sought the active cooperation of the teachers to bring a transformation in the field of education in the twin Karbi hills districts. He said that without the efforts from the teacher, no one and expect positive development in the field of education.
