Foundation stone for new stadium laid in Khatkhati

BOKAJAN, Apr 19: A foundation stone for the construction of a new stadium was laid today by Assam Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Dr. Numol Momin, at Khatkhati Jor Tokbi village. The stadium will be constructed under SOPD Scheme 2022-23 for the development of sports infrastructure under Bokajan sub-division.
Speaking on the occasion, the local MLA Dr. Numol Momin said that the new stadium will give a big boost to sports among the youths of Khatkhati-Lahorijan and other adjacent areas. This stadium will be the third big sports ground in the sub-division after Hanjanglangso and Kuligaon and an amount of Rs. 11 crores will be spent on it.
It may be mentioned that it has been a long demand of the Karbi Anglong Cricket Association (KACA) and the people of Khatkhati for the construction of a proper sports facility in Khatkhati. As such, a plot of land measuring 10 bighas has been allotted by the people of Jor Tokbi village. Both the KACA and local residents thanked Dr. Momin for his initiative.
BJP KADC president Rolang Killing, KACA president Sardili Bey, Bongrum Arong SGB, Khatkhati Sports Association office bearers and several other noted persons were also present during the foundation stone laying ceremony.
