DIPHU, Mar 10: International Women’s Day was observed by the District Social Welfare Department in association with the Technical Supported by District Hub for Empowerment of Women, One Stop Centre (OSC), Special Cell for Women & Children, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority on Thursday. This was informed by DMC Romali Teronpi here today.
The event was organised with the theme “Matri-Kishori Mela” under “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.” The programme commenced with mini marathon participated by Anganwadi workers, adolescents girls, supervisors of ICDS, and games. Later in the afternoon, a Webinar was attended by all participants on “Economic Empowerment of Women” addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later, booth camp was inaugurated by KAAC Deputy Secretary i/c Social Welfare Department, Madhuri Borah (District Programme Officer, ICDS), in presence of DSWO, CDPOs, supervisors, DHEW, OSC, special cell for women and children.
The event “Matri-Kishori Mela” was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by the KAAC Deputy Secretary, DPO, Assistant Commissioner, Karbi Anglong & DSWO. The event begun with an opening remark by- Romali Teronpi, District Mission Co-ordinator, and other dignitaries have shared about women empowerment and the their status in the district.
Prizes were distributed to all the winners of games & mini marathon before the event concluded. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks by CDPO- Premolata Giri, Diphu Urban ICDS.
