DIPHU, Apr 24: The 7th annual conference of the Karbi Language Teachers Association (KLTA) was held today at the Diphu Town Hall. The KLTs from all over Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong have come together to discuss several issues pertaining to their service.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest of the event, KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang said that in order to increase the salary of language teachers, the KAAC will place a supplementary budget from its revenue. He also said that KAAC is spending Rs. 11 Crores every month to pay the salaries of 815 existing Karbi language teachers.
“KAAC is working to appoint KLT in high schools as per guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Once it is done, teachers will receive their salary through online mode. Moreover, as per the NEP, students from Class-1 to Class-6 are to be taught in their mother tongue language. As such we will need more KLTs in the LP schools,” the CEM added.
“KAAC had already accepted Karbi as an official language as the MoS-21 for the promotion of the language. I thanked the 6 groups of Karbi revolutionaries for giving importance to the protection of Karbi language,” he further said.
The CEM also advised the KLTs present to be regular in their duties. He said that there are reports of some teachers ignoring their duties and that if any written complaint is received against anyone, strict actions will be taken.
KLTA president Dhonsing Bey chaired the meeting in the presence of the KAAC CEM, MP Horensing Bey, MLA Bidyasing Engleng, MLA Darsing Ronghang, EM, MAC, board chairmen and others.
