DIPHU, Apr 25: In recognition of the global efforts to fight and control Malaria and mobilize action to combat the disease, the World Malaria Day was observed in Diphu here today. This was informed by NCVBDC-District Vector Borne Disease (KarbiAnglong) consultant Obed Killing here today.
The District Vector Borne Disease consultant in a press release informed programme in Diphu was held at Diphu Club. Health & Family Welfare, KAAC Deputy Secretary Mr. D. Baruah, Karbi Anglong Health Services Joint Director Dr. Borsing Rongpi, Sr. M & HO cum DMO Dr. Semsing Singnar, NHM-K/A DPM Amarjit Tisso and District VBD consultant Obed Killing and several others was present at the event. In addition to this, representative from Red Cross Society, Lions Club, JirsongAsong NGO also participated in the meeting.
Further, the District VBD Consultant informed that day was observed all the medical block PHCs and the various activities including fever surveillance, awareness meeting, rally, impregnation of bednets, leaflets distribution, miking, social campaign through mass media were undertaken to mark the occasion.
Earlier in the press statement, the District VBD consultant informed that the World Malaria Day is observed to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment to preventing and controlling malaria across the globe. The day is observed with a different meaningful theme, and this year the World Health Organization has marked World Malaria Day 2023 under the theme “Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement”. Within this theme, WHO will focus on the third “i” – implement – and notably the critical importance of reaching marginalized populations with the tools and strategies that are available today.
