BOKAJAN, Mar 10: Locals of Upper Deopani area have expressed deep dismay over the delay in completing the bridge under the Borpathar PWD Division inside Deopani MAC constituency.
According to locals, several crores of rupees have already been sanctioned to speed the construction of the work yet the progress made on the ground is far from satisfactory. Due to the delay in its completion, students, children, women, labourers, vendors and people requiring medical attention have been the most affected section as it is the lifeline for the people of this area for all the basic needs and other needs.
Locals told TDE that despite being the lifeline for the people of Upper Deopani area, earlier Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang visited the site and assured locals for early completion of the bridge but the pace of the work at the ground says it otherwise. While expressing their disappointment, locals are seeking answer as to who is responsible for the delay- the contractor or the KAAC. The delay in completing the bridge before the monsoon season would mean prolonging the woes of the villagers, said the villagers.
Following this, locals of the area have called upon KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, local MAC Sharban Kumar Telenga and EM Mukut Mohanta for their immediate intervention and early completion of the bridge to end their communication woes at the earliest.
