BOKAJAN, May 05: Residents of Hanse village inside Hanjanglangso falling under the Sarupathar MAC Constituency have expressed dismay and safety concerns as the wooden bridge connecting the PWD road is on the verge of collapse any time.
According to locals, the bridge have started suffering damage since 2022, yet villagers including employees, daily wage labourers, farmers, school and college students have to reach their respective destinations even if the bridge is now on the verge of collapse due to end of its lifespan.
Further, locals stated that a sudden rush of flood water or erosion is enough to wash away or make the bridge collapse and the threat is more during monsoon season.
Following this, locals have called upon the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, PWD EM, local MAC and Bokajan MLA Dr. Numal Momin for visit or enquiry to assess the extent of damage and the dangers posed to villages and other commuters for early solution to problem.
Villagers have urged upon MAC Kadom Terangpi to provide RCC bridges at three locations at the road near PWD IB, Langteng Timung village and Paklangso near the Asian Highway 129 at the earliest to end their communication woes as all of these areas assume great significance to them.
