BOKAJAN, May 11: People from Nagaland have built several houses inside the boundary of Karbi Anglong district, especially in the Lahorijan area under Dillai police station. Despite that, conscious people have said that the KAAC, Forest Department, and Land & Revenue Department are still silent and acting blind.
It may be mentioned here that in the year 2022, the Nagas from the neighbouring state illegally constructed more than a hundred houses in the Lahorijan area along the Dillai-Dimapur road. The land where the illegal houses have been built falls under a reserved forest area. Even after that, the forest department’s office located nearby did not act on the massive encroachment of land.
Due to the passive nature of the concerned authority, conscious citizens of the local area expressed their suspicions over the likely selling of land to the Nagas from outside the state. They said that the KAAC authority must take immediate steps to evict the illegal settlers.
Further, the locals have appealed to the KAAC to take up developmental works in the border areas in order to protect its territory.
