Will not allow alteration, will be protected as per 1951 Gazette Notification: CEM Ronghang

DIPHU, May 13: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) along with all stakeholders of the hills districts of Karbi Anglong has asserted that the territorial integrity would be protected as per the Gazette Notification of 1951, and vigilance committee would be formed in the all the inter-state and inter-district villages. This was informed by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang after a crucial meeting was held at the Diphu Arboretum cum Craft Centre, Matipung in Diphu here today.
While addressing the media, the KAAC chief who was accompanied by ex-MP Dr. Jayanta Rongpi, APHLC president JI Kathar, MLA Bidya Sing Engleng, MLA Dorsing Ronghang, informed that the meeting today was convened to discuss the border issues in the backdrop of latest attacks on Karbi villagers by the Khasi miscreants at Langhemphi in West Karbi Anglong district. The house also condemned the attack on Karbi villagers by Khasi miscreants
“There are no differences in the stand and views among the stakeholders on the border integrity of the twin hills districts of Karbi Anglong and have reasserted that the boundary, including natural boundary, would be protected and remain as per the Gazette Notification of 1951, and as demarcated and notified as per the report of Survey of India when Meghalaya attained statehood,” he asserted.
“While asserting solution of all issues through dialogue, the house unanimously agreed the need to take drastic steps towards securing the border area for which vigilance committees comprising of local villagers and all stakeholders would be formed in all inter-state border villages across the district,” CEM Ronghang said.
Further, CEM Ronghang asserted that “All borders issues would be taken up constantly with the active consultation of local villagers and all stakeholders. And if and when required, we would also approach state chief minister for peaceful and permanent resolution of this burning issue.”
It may be mentioned that the crucial meeting on border issue convened by the KAAC at the Diphu Arboretum cum Craft Centre, Matipung in Diphu here today was attended by several stakeholders comprising of all parties, civil bodies including Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), All Party Hills Leader Conference (APHLC), Indian National Congress (INC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India (CPI), National People’s Party (NPP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), 24+ Organisation, Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum, Karbi Artist Forum, Karbi Cultural Society, Karbi Lammet Amei, Karbi Student’s Association, Karbi Student’s Union, Karbi Student’& Youth Council, Karbi Farmer’s Association, Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong, Karbi So-Arlo Amei, Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State, KANCHASDCOM, Karbi Riso Adorbar, Hills Tribal League, Karbi Unemployed Youth Association, Karbi Anglong Indigenous Youth Association and Joint Action Committee for Protection of Autonomy, intellectuals and former leaders including MP Birensing Engti, MP Dr. Jayanta Rongpi among others.
