National Dengue Day observed in Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, May 16: Like different places across India, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong celebrated National Dengue Day at different Medical Block PHC. The launching ceremony of National Dengue Day was held at Joint Director of Health Services Office premises in the presence of Rajeshan Terang, Secretary, I/c Health & Family Welfare, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Dr. Borsing Rongpi, Jt. Director of Health Services, Dr. Semsing Singnar, Sr. M&HO cum DMO i/c, Obed Killing, DVBDC, NCVBDC, Karbi Anglong, Amarjit Tisso, DPM, NHM, Mrs Jushna Tokbipi, CDPO, ICDS Project.
Later, an awareness meeting was held at hotspot area in Diphu i.e. Dharamnala, Horilal Basti, Birla and various activities like impregnation of bednets, fever surveillance, source reduction with the help of ASHA, AWW and Health Workers on the occasion. Miking, social awareness campaign was also initiated on the occasion.
The day was observed all over Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district and similar activities were undertaken in Manja BPHC, Bokajan BPHC, Howraghat BPHC, Chowkihola BPHC, Donkamokam BPHC, Boithalangso BPHC, Umpanai BPHC. The communities also were aware of the disease through Miking and Fixed Loud Speakers (FLS).
It may be mentioned here that National Dengue Day (NDD) is observed in India every year to create awareness about Dengue as well as to intensify the preventive measures and preparedness for the control of viral disease before the transmission season starts in India. It is celebrated in India as an initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that has been working towards the prevention and control of viral fever in various states in the country. This year the theme was taken “Harness Partnership to Defeat Dengue”.
