DIPHU, May 23: Self-styled social worker Moon Engtipi had allegedly amassed crores of money by cheating young job aspirants. This was stated by the Karbi Anglong Territorial Social Security Association (KATSSA) during a press meeting held today at Langhin Lambs IB.

KATSSA stated that Moon Engtipi had promised several aspirants job in the Forest and Irrigation departments and collected money from them. “83 youths were assured jobs by Moon Engtipi and she had collected as much as Rs. 1,79,70000,” said KATSSA.

The organisation informed that the issue of Moon Engtipi falsely taking money from job seekers came to light on May 6 when several persons approved KATSSA to help them recover money from the accused woman.

“The victims had repeatedly requested the repayment of their money, but it did not happen. Accordingly, on May 10, we had written a letter to Moon Engtipi, inviting her for a discussion on the matter. However, she did not comply with our request, and today we are compelled to bring the issue to the notice of the public,” said KATSSA.

Today’s press meeting was attended by the persons who had actually handed money to Moon Engtipi for a job. Ch. Goyary, Sadhin Killing, Khoyasing Bey and Raju Dey were among them. These victims have sought the help of KATSSA to pressurize the fraudster.

KATSSA president Semson Engti said that Moon Engtipi has defamed KAAC by making it a Syndicate of jobs. He had questioned if KAAC will take strong action on her, or if she had been given permission to run the syndicate. He said that KAAC must act hard on such persons who are playing with the lives and feelings of poor and needy job seekers.

“If Moon Engtipi is left free, KAAC will have to accept that it has permitted her to run the business,” added Semson Engti. Victims of the fraud have also demanded that the competent authority must act quickly and take stern action on Moon Engtipi, so that no other persons would dare to do the same in the future.
