Karbi Anglong DC inaugurates new blind school in Bokajan

BOKAJAN, May 26: Karbi Anglong DC Madhumita Bhagawati today inaugurated the first-ever blind school of Karbi Anglong at Bokajan. The school has been opened with the sole aim of providing blind children the opportunity to get school education.

The school is located at Khatkhati Bongrum village and was constructed under the joined initiative of the Indian Army and a philanthropist named George Farnandis as a part of Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavna for the session 2022-23.

The inauguration event was chaired by George Farnandis, while Karbi Anglong DC attended as the chief guest in the presence of the local Indian Army officer.

The DC applauded the noble work of starting the blind school and said that not only the children of Karbi Anglong and Assam, but also those from the nearby and states will also be benefitted from it. She said that disability should not be a hindrance to anyone’s desire to acquire knowledge and the school will give a boost in the field.
