KHERONI, May 26: The Karbi Ex- revolutionary federation(KERF) and All Hills tribe chamber of commerce and industry (AHTCCI) held a joint press meeting at Kheroni Agriculture IB today over heated argument between forest development board chairman Sarthe Kramsa and Birmal Engleng few day ago.
While addressing the press conference they said that action would be taken against any party found guilty.
The two organisations also asked how a contractual worker at the forest department like Rajen Engleng could engage himself in illegal sand mining along with Bimal Engleng and others.
KERF and AHTCCI asked Engleng to show video footage in which Forest development Board chairman Sarthe Kramsa was seen demanding a bribe of Rs 200 per trips against sand Mahalder as Engleng claimed.
It could be worth mentioning that, a sand Mahaldar (contractor) in West Karbi Anglong Southern range Kheroni has filed an FIR with Kheroni police station against the chairman and his sibling, who is range officer of the forest department, for extortion and harassment.
Engleng, alleged that dispite of obtained a challan and all proper documents, Harsing Kramsa, the range officer in-charge of Kheroni Southern Range, collected Rs 200/300 per trips from them.
The press conference was attended by KERF Chairman Rangsina Bey, secretary Sarmon Kramsa, Legal secretary Sarlongki kro and All Hills tribe Chamber of commerce and industry vice president Ales Terang, Thomas Bey and others.
