DIPHU, May 27: The Department of Forest and Environment had on Friday environment conducted a plantation cum awareness programme as a part of the environment day celebration. The event was held at Rangsina ME School at Pranprilangso. Located in the interior of Singhason constituency, the school about 35 kms away from Diphu town.
The forest department team was led by DFO Nandaram Teron, IFS and was attended by several village headman, headmaster Probhat Hanse and local villagers. They had jointly planted many tree saplings inside the school compound. Forest Ranger V.K Sinha, Longki Engti and Pinthi Terang distributed saplings as well.
The main aim of the event was to make people aware of the ill impact of the depletion of forest cover. People were also appealed to avoid plastic bags and planting of more trees in their locality.
