DILLAI, May 30: Dillai Higher School held its first Alumni meet today.
The meet was attended by teachers and students of the school since 1977. Prominent figures attending the programme include the first Headmaster of the school Paramananda Talukdar, other headmasters Keshab Chandra Bhagwati, Chandra Kanta Chetia, ex-assistant teachers Bichitra Tamuli, Nobin Terang and the present headmistress Jayanti Teronpi and other alumni. The event commenced around 8 in the morning by hoisting of the school flag to mark the opening of the programme followed by trees plantation. The public meeting later took place at around 12 pm which was chaired by Dillai Higher Secondary School Alumni Association president Chandrasing Singnar and object of the meeting was addressed by the General Secretary of the School’s Alumni Association Nobin Rongpi. The event was carried forward with a welcome song and traditional dance from Dillai HS students. Further, the alumni were felicitated with the most respectful Karbi Poho. While delivering the speech, several alumni expressed the hardship experienced by them especially during the initial period of the school and appraised the effort given by the teachers, students and the locals of Dillai. They further added that the experience the school as well as the teachers and students went through had moulded the condition of the school today. The programme was a remarkable and successful one with a history to cherish in the coming days.
