Allege illegal fees demand, urge action against erring employees

KOILAMATI, Aug 04: The locals of Chokihola have expressed concerned deep dismay and anger over the long and unauthorised absence of Postmaster Elias Phangcho and Thane Teron in Chokihola under Nilip MAC Constituency.
Located near Marjong club, locals told TDE that the habitual and unauthorised absenteeism of the staff has severely affected huge population of the area. Further, local residents informed that due to the long absence of the postmaster, the postman is compelled to take up office work leading to failure in delivery of items on time. Locals claimed that the postmasters remains absent for months without being detected by the concerned department.
Locals also made serious allegation of being demanded a fee of Rs. 20-30 at the post office for handing over of various items including Aadhar Cards, Pan Cards, and Driving Licenses. “Otherwise parcels would be placed in a corner of the office inside a sack which are growing day by day due to non delivery,” locals charged.
Following this, local residents of the areas have called upon the concerned authority to take earlier action against erring staff and to make the post office service active in the greater interest and welfare of the greater society in general.
