KNCA-CC reshuffles, Sukuri Rongpharpi elected as president

DIPHU, Aug 07: The first executive meeting of the Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) Central Committee was held on Saturday at Diphu, during which the new office bearers were elected for the session 2023-2025. This was informed by the organisation here today.

The executive meeting was held immediately after its 12th Annual Conference was concluded on August 1. According to the resolution, the new office bearers elected are Sukuri Rongpharpi (president), Pratima Engheepi (general conference), Reka Terangpi (vice president), Rani Teronpi, Prima Rongpipi (assistant general secretary), Jugo Hansepi (office secretary), Kare Tokbipi (finance secretary), Hanri Phangchopi (propaganda/publicity secretary), Protima Singnarpi and Bina Rongpipi (organising secretaries), Sira Beypi (spokesperson) while another 25 were selected as CC members.

The organisation informed that Seema Ronghangpi and Nirupoma Tokbipi were the first Karbi women to be appointed as AIPWA National Executive Members and are still continuing to work together. “Therefore, the coordination between KNCA and AIPWA is not new but started back in 1994. We are committed to raising issues of women without any geographical boundaries,” the organisation leader Pratima Engheepi said.

The organisation leader further informed that Rongdoi Teronpi, Seema Ronghangpi, Nirupoma Timungpi, Satyaprabha Tokbipi, Rengka Taropi, Maikon Rongpharpi, Homsira Tokbipi were the first women to take part in AIPWA conference.

“There is none like ASDC/CPIML as they are the only party which has given so much of political rights and space, and therefore our organisation stands with that party which has started the statehood movement and is still continuing with the same zeal,” general secretary Pratima Engheepi concluded.
