DIPHU, Aug 11: The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) and its allied organisations KSA and KNCA today conducted a sit-in demonstration at Diphu’s Ru Semsonsing Ingti Memorial Park to pressurise the state and central government for implementation of article 244(A).
ASDC demanded that the BJP-led govt must give more importance to the issue of the long-standing demand of the people of the hills districts of Assam. They condemned the BJP govt for repeatedly ignoring the demand for an autonomous state for Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
The agitating bodies also demanded the govt for a permanent solution to the issue of the inter-state border. They further urged the govt to bring early solutions to the current turmoil in Manipur.
A memorandum addressed to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the issue was also submitted to the DC’s office.
