KOILAMATI, Aug 11: Several youths of Langtuk Hanse Village under Nilip MAC constituency on Thursday carried out a cleanliness drive at Dungdungja Picnic Spot. The picnic spot was opened in the year 2018 as a result of the joint contribution of villagers who collected Rs. 50 – 100 per house to make the place of recreation.
Dungdungja Picnic Spot attracts many people from the locality. It is a good place for picnicking and enjoying bathing in the river water. However, some people who are not conscious of cleanliness and hygiene litter the surroundings with glass bottles, plastic bottles, and plastic wrappers, making the very dirty.
Led by Stephan Ronghang, the headman of Langtuk Hanse Village, local youths on Thursday did a cleaning of the picnic spot. They cleared the bushes and overgrowth and also collected the scattered bottles and wrappers. All families of the village also gave their support in the task by providing money for the volunteers’ lunch.
Locals informed that there is no entry fee for visitors in Dungdungja. They also appealed to visitors to be more careful about keeping the picnic spot clean.
