KOILAMATI, Aug 13: The survey and measurement work for the proposed road connecting Chokihola with Upper Tarapung has been completed. For the first time in 70 years of the formation Karbi Anglong district, local residents are filled with excitement to get a good road for their daily communication.
The survey work which was led by Chokihola PWD road sub-division Sectional Assistant (SA) Rensing Rongphar began on July 29 and ended on August 11. The 14-day-long task was completed during which a survey of the 51 km proposed road was carried out. In spite of their busy agricultural chores, locals also provided their full support to the team in clearing the bushes and cutting trees for the convenience of the measurement.
Once the construction of the road is over, people living in the hilly areas of Borpung-Tarapung are expected to get the biggest advantages of their lives. People of the area have been living without proper road for more than 100 years which led to their further deprivation.
“However, whether the road will be constructed soon or lately depends on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Bisha Sarma, KAAC CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang and Nilip MAC Pobitra Rongpi,” said a local resident.
