PHELANGPI, Aug 22: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) Kandong unit organised an education awareness programme at Thelu Aji LP School inside West Karbi Anglong district here today.
The programme was chaired by president Jayram Tisso and the aim of the event was briefed by Sar-et Bey. KSA CC general secretary Biswajyoti Teron graced the programme as chief guest and was accompanied by members Rensing Rongphar, Birsing Kro, Rajen Tisso, Longsing Tisso, Kandong LP School headmaster, Semson Ingti Langchithing LP School headmaster, headmen of three villages, villagers and local youths.
Speaking at the programme, the speakers highlighted several matters on how students and youths of the local area should prepare themselves for their future. Further, the speakers asserted that education is key for the survival and future progress of any community or tribe or race and therefore, it has to be accorded the highest priority by every individual.
In addition to the above, the speakers also spoke at length on early marriage reminding them of the stringent legal action in the form of prison time for those found marrying minors. The speakers also called for sharing of responsibility among village headmen, leaders, elders and parents and also called for constant vigilance and exchange of views in the greater interest and welfare of all sections of the society.
