BOKAJAN, Aug 24: In a latest development, Songbijit Engti Kathar said that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Taxation Department’s issuance of two license permit for Lahorijan area has made the broiler wholesale business not practicable to operate. This was stated during a press conference convened at Lahorijan today.
Speaking at the press conference convened at 7 pm at the Hotel Dream Sky in Lahorijan, the leader of disbanded underground group Songbijit Engti Kathar expressed deep dismay over the issuance of two licenses to two individuals for one area.
Kathar said that the NOC was first issued to Ranjit Teron and was again issued to one Waisong Bongrum which has made it very difficult to operate the business. “No one had done anything when non locals had been doing business for the past 20 years and now when one of our own people got into it, issuing double NOC for the same area is utterly shocking and disappointing,” Kathar said. Further he said, “Had it been for area like Bokajan and Silonijan, I would have said nothing. This has only created resentment among the businessmen and that is why I am deeply hurt.”
Following this, Kathar called upon the concerned department under the KAAC to urgently reconsider its decision in the greater interest of the aspiring local businessmen of the district. In addition to this, he called upon the Karbi Anglong SP and Bokajan SDPO to deliberate on the matter.
