DOLAMARA, Aug 24: The election for the chairman of Dolamara LAMPS was peacefully held on August 22 with a voting percentage of 88 percent. The election was conducted under the supervision of election officer Rajen Timung and with cooperation from all shareholders.
Counting of votes also took place on the same day at around 8 PM. Among all the participants in the elections, Hundor Phangcho got the highest number of votes (192).
It may be mentioned that for the past 15 years, Hun Phangcho was the chairman of Dolamara LAMPS. However, in this election, the Board of Directors (BOD) did not provide full support to him. There are speculations that Hun Phangcho, a member of the BJP party had form B-team of the party to contest the election in alliance with Congress and other parties. The other team of BJP was led by Biren Tokbi.
14 persons from the Biren Tokbi led team contested in the election out of which 7 came out victorious (6 unreserved seats and 1 reserved for women seat). On the other hand, Hun Phangcho and his alliance team also won equal number of seats (6 unreserved seats and 1 reserved for women seat).
The 14 members of the BOD will now decide whom to make the new chairman. At the time this report was filed, there was no update of the selection process.
