KOILAMATI, Aug 26: Residents of Borjan –Tokolangso located inside the Nilip MAC Constituency carried out road filling and manual repair work on Friday.
United by deprivation and regardless of their faith and political affiliation, residents of the area falling under the Borjan polling centre, comprising of Pung Adong Masi Terang village and Borjan Wophong Rongpi carried out the road repair work from 9 in the morning.
The Borjan polling centre president Hunaram Terang provided dumper truck and JCP excavator for transporting sand gravel for filling and level road surfaces which has been creating innumerable hardships and misery of the local residents. Polling station general secretary Kensing Engti and Maising Phangcho along with residents of the two villages have also conveyed their gratitude towards Terang for providing the truck and excavator for the road repair work.
Residents of the area told TDE that their village members and specially women, children and the ailing individuals have been the hardest hit by the lack of road which has, for decades, remained the same despite constant claim by elected representatives.
In 2020, MLA Dr. Momin and Nilip MAC Pobitra Rongpi stated that the road between Borjan –Tokolangso would be constructed before election and the work would be allocated to one Jay Agrawal. The road has not yet been constructed nor any word on this was heard anymore, locals concluded.
