DIPHU, Aug 26: The Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum (KAWJF ) celebrated its 6th birth anniversary today. The celebration programme was held at its own office in Birla, Diphu. The event began at 10:30 am with the hoisting of the organisation’s flag.

The main celebration session was attended as guests by KSA General Secretary George Timung, former KSA president Thangsing Timung, KFA Secretary Amorjit Ronghang, Karbi Serdihun Serpindeng Asong president Phulbi Timungpi in the presence of KAWJF president Beaulet Beypi, secretary Presila Terangpi and several members.

Congratulating the women organisation on its foundation KSA GS George Timung said, “KAWJF has been working selflessly for the rights of women. It is always happy to an organisation working for society without seeing of the self,” he said.

Former KSA president Thangsing Timung said that without the participation of women, the development of society cannot happen. “Women’s orgnisation around the world have become very strong and they are very vocal in all issues. The women’s organisations in Karbi Anglong are still very far from being powerful,” he said.

Timung also said that the govt. is playing man tricks to divert the minds of people from the topic of Article 244(A). “Govt. is trying to dilute our minds and hearts so that our attention is shifted from the demand of autonomous state to other issues,” he said.

KAWJF leaders also spoke on various issues and problems they have tackled in these six years and also shared views for the future course of work. They also submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Assam at the DC’s office. The memo was regarding various issues including taking up of necessary actions to control the spread of Dengue and immediate implementation of Article 244(A).
