BOKAJAN, Sep 01: Fear grips the citizens of Bokajan as the town witnessed a surge in Dengue cases.

While talking to TDE, the staff of the Aarogya Multispeciality Hospital, Bokajan informed that 4-5 patients of Dengue come to the hospital on a daily basis. They said that the ongoing hot and humid weather is favouring the growth in the number of mosquitoes, which in turn is spreading the Dengue virus as well.

The hospital staff also informed that,  to date no deaths from Dengue have been reported in the hospital. All the patients who have come for treatment have recovered and the number of patients is also not huge.

Doctors further informed that people having symptoms of Dengue should not delay in going to the health centre. People must keep their surroundings clean in order to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. They advised people to use mosquito nets while sleeping and to apply mosquito-repellent creams.

It can be mentioned that in the last several weeks, many cases of Dengue fever were reported in Diphu, the district’s headquarter and there have been cases where the patients had succumbed to the disease. While many have recovered, there are still many patients under treatment.
