DIPHU, Sep 03: A one-day poetry event by the name 2nd Nihang Longri Poets Meet was held today at Borsing Ronghang Auditorium Hall, Loringthepi. The event was conducted under the initiative of Nihang Longri Amei of the Karbi Lammet Amei in collaboration with the Phuloni KLA branch.
The event began at 11 AM and was chaired by eminent poet and writer Saret Hanse. Among the guests who graced the occasion were MLA Darsing Ronghang, KAAC EM Kangbura Killing, KLA president Barim Ingti, GS Josying Tokbi, padmashree Dhaneshwar Ingti, social worker Sabina Teronpi, writer Hangmiji Hanse and others. Writer and translator Khagen Ingti and poet Longbir Terang were the critics for the poem recitation session from invited poets, while Welsing Hanse, Longbini Rongpi and Lily Taropi were the judges for the recitation competition.
A total of 65 participants including representatives of KLA branches and students from local schools, took part in the competition. Chotika Rongpharpi of Dongka Chingthu, Songsar Timung, Sarbarim Ingleng of Den Arong, Sarsing Ingti of Samelangso and Sarthe Killing of Hidipi won consolation prizes. Jirmili Hansepi of Karkok Higher Secondary School, Bishnu Ingti of Thinglangso and Boloram Rongpi of Den Arong won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
