Former DPC president Longki Enghee joins Congress

DONGKAMUKAM, Sept 07: In major development before Parliamentary election stated to held next year opposition Congress received major boost when former Dongkamukam Press Club (DPC) president and senior media persons Longki Enghee enrolled himself to the Indian National Congress (INC) on first anniversary celebration of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ held at WKADCC head office in Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong.
He was warmly accorded by APCC observer former KAAC CEM Joyram Engleng. The programme which was chaired by WKADCC president Sing Teron, was also attended by SEVA Dal Assam State chairman Dip Bayan, ex-MLA Klengdoon Engti, APCC media cell Bipul Chakraborty, district leader Bijoy Teron and others. Enghi was also formally appointed as WKADCC (media department) spokesperson.
Speaking at the event, erstwhile CEM Joyram Engleng said that latest Manipur clash is the glaring proof of the absolute failure of the present government. “Had he taken quick action in the initial stage PM Modi could have averted from heavy loss but he only woke up after deep slumber for almost 3 months,” he charged.
The former CEM further charged, “The failure of the government has demonstrated his incompetence and the level of neglect towards the north eastern states. ‘Na khaunga, Na Khane Dunga’ is a hollow slogan with no use. Corruption is peaking at Council, all will go to jail after parliamentary election,” he said.
Meanwhile, during his speech SEVA Dal Assam State chairman Dip Bayan also attacked the saffron party and said, “The BJP RSS is trying to disrupt peaceful existence in all walks of life.”
Further, he also charged that clashes in the name of religion are now occurring more in Hindi belt. “The present government lend over thousand of crores from different companies while imposing heavy taxes on our general public with inflation hitting at the same time. Triple engine has destroyed us,” he concluded.
Former MLA Klengdoon who also spoke on the occasion hit out at the saffron party and said that at present, the BJP grassroot workers are not getting any benefit from Council here in the districts. “The present CEM, MLAs are in reality, heavy contractors as all bills are captured by them,” Klengdoon said.
He also charged the BJP and said they are trying to enact UCC which will ultimately destroy our hill tribals in future. He concluded his speech calling upon the people of the district to come together to overthrow the BJP in upcoming parliamentary election next year.
Earlier, a yatra was held at the town commencing from WKADCC office and was later concluded at its office recalling their national leader Rahul Gandhi, who carried out the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on this day last year.
