DIPHU, Sep 10: In a press conference convened on Saturday, Karbi Anglong Territorial Social Security Association (KATSSA) expressed their extreme displeasure over the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council for the delay in giving new appointments under Forest Department. The organisation leaders charged the KAAC of its failure to fulfilling its commitments to cancel the illegal appointments and to call for for fresh appointments even after it had already released a detailed programme for the action.
KATSSA president Semson Ingti reminded that in 2022, the organisation stepped in to provid their support towards the victims of fake job appointments and get justice. They filed a complaint against the Forest Department pointing out that several posts in the department were filled without advertisement and interviews.
“Based on the complaint made by us, the KAAC was compelled to sit for discussion with the Forest Department. Earlier in July this year, the Council passed a resolution in the matter and in provision No. 2 and No. 8 of the resolution it has been clearly mentioned that KAAC will cancel all illegal appointments and publish advertisement, call interviews for fresh appointments,” said Semson Ingti.
“As per the resolution, the advertisement was to be published within August and the interview to held after 7 days and in the first week of September, the fresh appointment letters were to be distributed to the successful candidates,” Engti informed.
KATSSA leaders further charged that all the commitments and assurances made by KAAC have become pointless as so far, no advertisement has been published and there is yet no information on how many posts will be vacant.
Engti also pointed out that his team will not stop fighting until the victims get justice. The organisation also called upon the public to not doubt their commitment on the matter. “We are just waiting for the KAAC and Forest Department,” concluded Engti.
Meanwhile, the KATSSA also appealed the KAAC to frame special provisions to absorb more than 1600 existing persons into the department and not to sack those who are regular in duties. The organisation stated that those who have appointment letters but no place of posting be also given special consideration on the matter of appointment.
