DIPHU, Sept 25: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) today demanded that Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) should be rechristened as Semsonsing Ingti Medical College & Hospital during a press meet held at Diphu Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) office today.
The press meet was held after the KSA handed over its letter of demand to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma through the Deputy Commissioner of KA.
In this regard, KSA Central executive committee Vice-President Moniram Teron stated to local media that renaming the prestigious institute after the great leader Ru Semsonsing Ingti is a brilliant proposal. He also urged that professional courses like as BDS, BHMS, MD, Bsc Nursing, and others be added at DMCH. The president further asked the concerned authority to take quick action to address the water logging problem, particularly during the rainy season, and to repair buildings wherever necessary.
KSA CEC general secretary Ramsing Tokbi, publicity secretary Kangthim Engti, and other working members attended the press conference.
