HAFLONG , Sept 27: Along with the rest of the world, the Tourism department of Dima Hasao observed world tourism day today. Samuel Changsan, Executive Member for medical department attended the programme as the chief guest along with Manjit Naiding, Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) and in-charge Tourism department, MACs Ishwari Prasad and Liton Chakraborty, Principal Secretaries of DHAC and others.
EM Samuel Changsan expressed the importance of diverse culture and nature of Dima Hasao district for tourism industry of not just this district but for the state of Assam and country as a whole. He said that tourism is the core sector of Dima Hasao district by which people can be benefitted to a huge extent. He urged the people to consider this field which will bring economic benefits, generate revenue for the people of this district. He stated that the aim of Dima Hasao tourism is to make this place an all season destination tourist place to visit.
Manjit Naiding also requested that the stake holders should work hand in hand in-order to promote the places and also aim to examine investment opportunities for sustainably focused future of tourism industry. A brief outlay of the tourism industry of Dima Hasao with its scope opportunities was also presented by Zed Nunisa who was recently appointed by the council as advisor to the department.
On the occasion, the programme also saw launching of tourism website www.dimahasaotoruismofficial.com, release of tourism policy for Dima Hasao district and coffee table – Explore Dima Hasao. Colourful cultural dance by various tribes were also presented by the cultural troupes.
The programme was attended by NGOs, bikers group, youths, tour operators, media persons and officials.
