KOILAMATI, Sep 30: The Forest Department and Tourism Department on September 29 (Friday),
jointly surveyed the feasible areas for rafting in the Kalioni River under Nilip MAC constituency. The step was taken in order to promote ecotourism in Nilip Area (N.E range Silonijan).
According to the department officials, the survey was a great success and inflatable rafts were used to navigate the Kalioni River from Chosenlari 2 Village to Pangti Kro Village. The area of the river between the two points has been seen as a possible spot for the adventure activity.
The survey was conducted in the presence of Ritesh Enghi, Executive Member I/c Tourism Department KAAC and Mirjeng Ronghang, Deputy Director of Tourism Karbi Anglong. The programme was organised by Chingbai Ronghang, RFO Protection Squad Ranger East Division, Bogijan Beat staff and North Eastern Range Silonijan staff.
It may be mentioned that EM Ritesh Enghi has been actively working for the promotion of tourism in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. He has undertaken several commendable steps in this regard.
