DIPHU, Nov 21: The demolition and clearance of structures for widening of road was carried out in Diphu today during which boundary walls and structures of several noted individuals were removed.
The widening of road measuring 1.5 kilometres commencing from Rongnihang Forest Office Diphu to Head Post Office Diphu was have been identified where flyover construction is underway.
The notice for demolition and clearance of the road was issued on November 8, 2023 under Assam Land Revenue Regulation Act, 1886 Settlement Rules Section 18 (3) by the Assistant Revenue Officer Diphu Circle. Officials informed that the demolition was carried out on failure by the occupants to vacate the plot within 15 days stating that the road widening work was planned to be completed before the Golden Jubilee of Karbi Youth Festival early next year.
During the day, boundary walls belonging to MP Dr. Jayanta Rongpi, guests house belonging to former Diphu Town Committee Chairman Lt. Gautom Terang were brought down.
The demolition and clearance work was carried out in presence of MLA Dorsing Ronghang, Land & Revenue EM Amorsing Tisso, several other EMs, MACs, KAAC secretaries and engineer Juwel Timung among others.
