BOKAJAN, Nov 24: Locals of Lahorijan area requested KAAC authority to carry out thorough eviction drive at Lahorijan Khan Bosti and Dudu Colony located between Karbi Anglong and Nagaland border falling under Bokajan constituency and Khatkhati Police Station on Friday.
According to locals, the areas have been filled with illegal houses in spite of two eviction drives carried out by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on December 21, 2021, and January 30, 2022, led by CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang and the KAAC Department Police, CRPF and VDP.
Locals informed that the number of illegally constructed houses have reached fifty.
The locals also expressed their disappointment over KAAC’s silence on unlawful housing, and it’s failure to take stern action as per the law.
The people further stated that previously eviction drive was carried out partially and urged the authority to carry out eviction drive thoroughly from the tea plantation area to Dimapur border.
