HAVARKEHAT, Dec 12: The United Students Union of Karbi Anglong (USUKA) has demanded stringent action against all mining and transport activities alleging that several trucks have been transporting stones without any TP challan or permit.
In this connection, the organisation submitted to the APPCF alleging that illegal mining activities have been going on on a massive scale inside Parkup Pahar and areas under the Langkhang beat office. The organisation while demanding stringent action against illegal mining activities, expressed serious concern over the matter stating these illegal activities are not merely exploiting the virgin land, but are destroying the forest and bio-diversity of the area.
The organisation further alleged that some stone quarries are being operated without any TP challan and expressed their suspicion that some forest officials may have been involved in the illegal activities. The organisation said the matter have been reported multiple times in portal news channel, yet no action has been taken on the matter by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Dr. Tuliram Ronghang.
The students’ organisation also attacked the government stating that the present BJP government only makes rhetorical claims and the rampant illegal activities have only cemented the absolute failure of the government.
USUKA central president Bibison Teron and secretary Jintu Hazarika demanded inquiry into these activities and demanded stringent action against all involved in these illegal activities going on inside Parkup Pahar range.
