GOLAGHAT, Jul 25: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited a temporary helipad at LP School Bidyapur, located within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of E/142 Bn CRPF in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) along the Assam-Nagaland border. This visit is a follow-up to his earlier tour on July 13, 2025, after severe flooding in the Dhansiri River region, where he announced the next phase of eviction drives in the Uriamghat area.

A drone-assisted land survey was conducted by Shri M.K. Yadav, IFS, Chief Forest Officer, along with other officials, revealing widespread encroachment and unauthorized occupation of government land. Eviction notices have been issued to several villages with a seven-day compliance deadline. A high-level coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of the District Commissioner, Golaghat, to discuss the eviction operations.

During his visit, Dr. Sarma reviewed the preparedness and administrative coordination for the upcoming eviction operations at Uriamghat. Dignitaries present included Shri Biswajit Phukan, MLA, Sarupathar Constituency; District Commissioner and Sr. Superintendent of Police, Golaghat; and senior officials from the CRPF and Border Magistrates of both Assam and Nagaland.

Security arrangements were managed by 142 Bn CRPF, which conducted area domination and cordon operations to ensure the smooth conduct of the visit and maintain law and order in the region. This development comes as part of the Assam government’s efforts to address encroachments and protect government land.
