Karbi students and research scholars hold farewell for outgoing students at AU

DIPHU, Jul 27: The Karbi students and research scholars at Assam University, Silchar recently organised a farewell ceremony to the outgoing students from various departments. The event was held in a spirit of cultural pride and unity of the Karbi student community.
Adding to the occasion, Karbi students and doctors from Silchar Medical College were also present, offering words of encouragement and support adding a sense of continuity and connection between Karbi students across different academic institutions in the Barak Valley.
Currently, around 30 Karbi students are enrolled at Assam University, Silchar. Though small in number, the community are actively contributing to campus life—participating in cultural programmes, academic conferences, and university-level initiatives that reflect both their heritage and academic engagement.
The organising team expressed sincere appreciation to the Assam University Diphu Campus Students’ Union (2022–2023), Hongjai, The Drongo Express, Karbi employees serving in the Barak Valley, and all individuals who have supported their journey.
“We hope to see more Karbi students join Assam University in the future,” shared a senior research scholar. “This farewell was not just a departure, but an opportunity to come together and reflect on our shared experiences.”
The evening concluded with traditional songs, messages of good wishes, and heartfelt conversations, giving a meaningful closure for the graduating students and reaffirming the bonds within the Karbi academic community.
