Senior journalist Prasant Kumar Mishra passes away

BOKAJAN, Aug 01: Prasant Kumar Mishra, an eminent journalist from Bokajan, Karbi Anglong, passed away on July 31, in his own room in Bokajan Swastik Club. He was 90. He did not marry, so he passed away, leaving behind his friends and fellow journalists.
Prasanta Kumar Mishra came to Karbi Anglong sometime around 1995 and stayed in Diphu for a short period. He then moved to Bokajan, where he worked as a journalist for a Hindi newspaper Dainik Purbadoi and Purvanchal Pahari. He was appointed as adviser of Bokajan Press Club. In 2008, he was appointed the president of Bokajan Sub Division Journalist Association.
Mishra had a pressure stroke a few years ago, and since then, his health has been deteriorating. Unfortunately, he breathed his last at 6:30 PM on July 31.
He was an honest man and throughout his life as a journalist, he had inspired and guided many young journalists of the region. The media fraternity of the district mourns his demise.
