DIPHU, Aug 01: In a latest development, the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) will host the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2025 on August 9 at the Sertalin Auditorium, Karbi People’s Hall (KPH), Taralangso, Diphu. The celebration is set to bring together tribal communities from across the Northeast and beyond in a colourful tribute to shared heritage, identity, and cultural resilience.
A Reception Committee was officially constituted at the KCS office to oversee the planning and execution of the grand event. The committee includes senior community leaders, youth representatives, cultural activists, and volunteers, working in unity to ensure a meaningful and well-organised observance.
Organisers view this year’s celebration as a symbolic homecoming, where indigenous peoples will converge at Karbi People’s Hall—bringing with them ancestral knowledge, oral traditions, folk arts, and community wisdom that form the soul of this region.
The day-long event will feature a diverse cultural line-up, including traditional dance performances, indigenous music, exhibitions, craft displays, food stalls, panel discussions, and inter-community dialogues.
