VOTHATLANGSO, Aug 11: The West Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce and local bazaar committees came together this morning to conduct a cleanliness drive at Borthal and Satgaon bazaar, starting at 7:00 AM.
The drive is the chamber’s first public initiative since its leadership reshuffle on July 15, which saw On Teron appointed as Chairman and Harsing Rongpi as Secretary. The campaign aims not only to clean public spaces but also to inspire local residents to take pride in their surroundings.
Among those who took part in the event included chairman On Teron, vice chairman Augustine Ronghang, secretary Harsing Rongpi, assistant secretary Chesong Engleng, treasurer Babu Timung, Borthal Bazaar Committee president Joydhon Bey, secretary Nabin Chandra Boro, Satgaon Bazaar Committee president Rensing Bey, and secretary Bidyasing Ronghang.
As a token of respect, the West Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce Committee presented mufflers to the presidents and secretaries of both bazaar committees.
Speaking to the media, chairman On Teron assured, “We will continue such cleanliness drives in other areas to create a cleaner, healthier environment for all and keeping our bazaar and surroundings clean is not just good for the public it’s a gesture that reflects our care for the environment and the community”.
